June is the worst month for all Malaysians. Petrol price hike has a big impact on everyone, directly or indirectly. As a student, our monthly expenditure also sky rocket as the food price increase. Those auntie, uncle if not charging you extra for the same portion of food, they will reduce your food portion or both.

Students already suffer enough within this 2 years since the increment of fees such as Library fee, Tuition fee and Parking fee (what else I miss?). Today, we receive an announcement stating, “All students have to pay an IT services fee of approximately RM100 starting this trimester

Here is the content

Assalamualaikum and very good day to all,

We from the Students Representative Council, Multimedia University (Malacca Campus) would like to hear some opinions/suggestions from students regarding the matter explained below:

Imposition of IT services fee (RM100)

Finance Division is planning to impose a RM100/year IT service fee on all students starting from the academic year 2008/2009 (this trimester). The fee covers the maintenance fees of MMLS, course registration system, wireless services and other online systems. Besides this, a portion of the fee will be used to upgrade the bandwidth of Melaka campus (from 16 Mbps to 34 Mbps).

Unfortunately, there are several controversial issues:

1. Although the students from both of the campuses will be charged the same fee, Cyberjaya campus will get a better service in terms of bandwidth increment (from 34 Mbps to 100 Mmbps). This is because the hardware of Cyberjaya campus is more advance than us and our hardware is not able to support the 100 Mbps bandwidth (Cyberjaya hardware can support up to 400 mbps while ours can only support up till 100 Mbps).

2. Not every student is using the wireless service.

3. CITS cannot guarantee that after the imposition of the IT services fee, all the flaws that we encountered before (eg. system down during the course registration period) can be solved once and for all.

4. Number of concurrent connections to the web services such as MMLS and course registration may or may not be increased. If it is not increased, the increase in bandwidth would not make much of a difference as the number of users allowed to access the said websites will still remain the same. As such, at high usage periods (i.e. before/during exam for MMLS & course registration days) students will still have the problem of not being able to access the websites. It would be akin to widening the roads but still having the same number of exits – You’ll get to the exits/entrances (i.e. websites) faster. Once there, you’ll have to wait in line (for countless hours) just as before.

Most of the students are not rich, including me. Some of us rely on government loan that provide us just the sufficient amount of money to pay our ever-increase fees. Not to mention the loan doesn’t include our daily expenses. We are still asking money from our parents every month.

RM100 might sounds very little for some of you. If they keep charging for every single things in MMU, we going to end up eating grass. Library fee, parking fee, increase tuition fee. Don’t know when they will impose toilet entrance fee or toilet bowl fee.

You’ll burn a hole in your pocket every time you go do your business.

SAY NO TO IT SERVICE FEE

My New “Eye”
Posted by: zorex in Day to Day

I was using my phone for 3 years. It came with a camera that take a maximum of 640×480 pixel photos. Yea, no optical zoom or what so ever. My new “Eye” is sleek and slim with a sliding lens cover. The photos posted in my blog mostly taken using my T70 (except for the 1st 2 entry and some I leech from friends).

Its a slim camera and the best part is it doesn’t have moving lens coming out like the clip below.

Does your “little brother” make sound when it stands up?

Compact cam like this is good. Its so convenient to snap underskirt photos carry around. People like me don’t carry handbag you see. I’ll just stuff all my things into my pockets, phone, wallet, keys and camera.

My beloved cam doesn’t come with button. Did I say no button? Of course got button lar. Snap button, power button and preview button. No button cause the back panel is touch screen. wakaka… Cool leh?

Weeee…I can watch movie during class ler and its wide screen some more. lolz…

To congratulate Mozilla Team on shipping of Firefox 3, IE Team sent them a cake.

Hopefully the cake is bug free and not as vulnerable as IE. I still think its better to send “cookie” than cake.

My PC Boomed!
Posted by: zorex in Day to Day

It was a sunny afternoon and suddenly lightning strike my phone line and burn my LAN Card, motherboard, Graphic Card and the modem.

Weird enough, the modem still can be power up, only the LAN port burn…zzzzz

The lightning blast a crater on my LAN Card. Lucky other components survive that blast.

This new motherboard is so small and it can fit into a Laptop. Even my processor heat sink take up half of the space on the motherboard.

Now I’m back online, and the 1st thing I do is update my blog. Lolz

Trimester break rox…

I’ve been slacking at home for 3 weeks and finally today, I spend some time to update my rusty blog. My trip wasn’t that bad, just a bit tiring cause I need to travel some distance to the LCCT alone. How sad… :(

Trip to LCCT, suffering trip…

Bye bye KL, I’m leaving…

After 2 hours, the plane seems like crashing into jungle. Yea, I’m living in “jungle” with lift you know.

The end of my story of flying back home…lalala
