I attended a PHP programming competition last Sunday just to try my luck. One of the reasons is also because there wasn’t any representative from FIST and one lecturer asked me to join and get some experience.

I never join any competition for almost 12 years and that was a story telling competition I joined during my primary school. I was nervous at first cause this is a competition open to all including professional programmers and “aliens“.

I also attended the seminar on Saturday hoping to learn something new. Some of the topic was very interesting and indeed teach me a lot of new things. However one thing I don’t like about the seminar is that one of the speakers gave his talk in BM. We have participants from other country and people like me also having hard time digesting the talk.

We have number of groups ranging from university students to working people joining the competition. It’s almost impossible for newbie like us to get the consolation prize.

Look at all the pros. It’s really like “David and the Goliath”. Guess who is the Goliath? Who is David?

Looking at the prize money really give you the motivation to continue. (I know it’s little, nvr mind larr…)

The competition goes like this. We have 6 hours to answer 6 questions. They will give us the questions in order. You must solve the question on hand in order for you to get the next question. You are allow can only submit your answer once and not allow to make any changes.

The first question was hard enough; everyone was scratching their head trying to solve that “appetizer question”. The question difficulty increases as we move on. Most people skip question skip question 2 where you need to do pagination. Luckily we can solve that and score high marks for that question.

We weren’t doing good as we spent too much time on one of the question and it can’t run on the organizer server. Interestingly, we can still get 3rd place. We never thought that we can even get consolation prize in the first place.

Well, this is the glass plate and also RM500 for getting 3rd place. Not bad huh…

p/s: The picture of us holding the “cheque” is blur cause the fela that took our picture were trembling, seeing “David has beaten the Goliath”. ;X

Colour & Personality
Posted by: zorex in Personality

You are the sort of person that needs a peaceful environment. You seek release from stress and freedom from conflicts and disagreements, of which you seem to have had more than your fair share. But you are taking pains to control the situation by proceeding cautiously and you are right in doing so as you are a very sensitive person.

The way things are you are under considerable stress and you feel that there is little hope of matters righting themselves. Everyone about you seems to aggravate the problem even more. You feel that at this time you need to be alone and you are right – move back and give yourself a chance to breathe.

You are confined and trapped in a distressing or uncomfortable situation and seeking some way out. Whatever you seem to do to resolve the problem hasn’t worked out. Fortunately you are able to gain some aspect of relief from someone close to you.

Recent disappointment has led you to become truly introverted. You are becoming suspicious of everybody and consequently you now feel that you are unable to trust anybody. Unfortunately it would appear that you are curbing your natural enthusiasm and imaginative nature – perhaps this is because you are fearful that you may become over enthused and find that you could possibly be carried away by wishful thinking. You are keeping your distance to see whether attitudes towards you are sincere – but this watchfulness could easily develop into suspicion and distrust.

You are inclined to be too trusting and you feel that you need to be on your guard against the possibility that your endeavours and actions may be misunderstood. Too often you have been taken advantage of and you have been mentally abused. Now you are seeking a relationship which can provide peace of mind, where you can be yourself and not have the need to put on a false front.

This is me. Yea, I really agree on what the test result says about me. Don’t mess with the Zohan me dude.

You can try the test at http://www.goldinuniverse.com

It’s hard to get to know your own personality from your own viewpoint. You need someone close to you to tell you exactly what kind of person you are, even though it might be a bit hurtful. Learn to take it in and improve yourselves.

Introductory to Cyberpreneurship is a subject all MMUians need to take. Through this subject they “teach” us how to do business. We study till university and do you think we need to learn how to make business?

It’s something extra, money wasting subject. We are spending huge portion of our time this week on this 1 credit hour subject.

Anyway, it was quite fun cause there are a lot of hot chicks and new fags walking around. Sometimes we even forget that we are doing business instead of looking at girls… haha

You see the crowd, hot chicks everywhere…OMG!

Women at work. Busy selling themselves preparing food.

This is our spacial product. Eh, this is not shit lar… very tasty one horr…

Introducing the hardworking committees. They never let you down and always try their best to solve any problems you might face during these few days.

Talking about problem, we have power outage during 1st and 2nd day. This of course affects our business and some inconsiderate people just blame the committees for that.

Bad electrician did some bad wiring and cause burn and power outage. Luckily no serious injury and everyone is safe.

Fortunately, the committees are quick in solving this and get a new electrician and we have new wiring and every back to normal on 3rd and 4th day.

We finish on the 4th day and everyone is happy that it’s over.

We just can’t wait to go home and get a good night sleep. Phew…

Wow… That’s definitely a wow for all the viewers watching the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic 2008. But no matter how good one thing is, there will always be critics to criticize. People said the fireworks during the Olympic opening ceremony was impossible, is it true?

http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Some-Opening-Ceremony-fireworks-were-faked?urn=oly,99745

If you watched the Opening Ceremony on Friday night, chances are you said something like, “no way that’s possible” at least once. It turns out you were right.

London’s Telegraph newspaper reports that some of the fireworks which appeared over Beijing during the television broadcast of the Olympic Opening Ceremony were actually computer generated. But — hold on — it’s not necessarily as bad as you think.

The faked fireworks were actually set-off at the stadium, but because of potential dangers in filming the display live from a helicopter, viewers at home were shown a pre-recorded, computer-generated shot. It sounds dishonest, but I’m not sure it’s such a terrible thing.

The Opening Ceremony is, at its core, just one big performance. And isn’t it accepted that some things might not be legit at a performance? The final torch bearer wasn’t actually running around the top of the stadium, does the fact that everyone could figure that out make it any less impressive? It might have been unnecessarily deceptive, but the firework-faking isn’t really that big of a deal. But, if I found out that the lighted-drum thing wasn’t on the up and up, then we’ll have problems, China.

Believe it or not, see it for yourself. ;)
